HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 041007-N - CTRMA Traffic StudyRESOLUTION NO. 04/007a' Al A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas to engage the services of the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA) to conduct a mobility and feasibility analysis and study of the entire Southwest Bypass from East Highway 29 to West Highway 29. WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown has developed a detailed plan for future transportation infrastructure improvements; and WHEREAS, the Southwest Bypass has been identified as the top priority project by the Georgetown Transportation Advisory Board (GTAB), the Georgetown Transportation Enhancement Corporation (GTEC), and the City Council; and WHEREAS the City would like to exhaust all of its financial options and examine all alternative financing mechanisms in order to design, engineer, and construct the Southwest Bypass; and WHEREAS laws enacted by the 2001 and 2003 Legislature authorized the establishment of Regional Mobility Authorities (RMAs) with significant powers over road creation. .Each RMA is a political subdivision formed by one or more counties, with the approval of the Texas Transportation Commission (1'1 C), entrusted with financing, designing, building, operating and maintaining toll roads and other transportation projects, and WHEREAS in October 2002, the 1'1C approved the creation of the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA), the state's first RMA; and WHEREAS the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority is an independent government agency created to improve the transportation system in Williamson and Travis Counties; and WHEREAS the mission of the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA) is to implement innovative multi -model transportation solutions that reduce congestion and create transportation choices that enhance quality of life and economic vitality. Resolution No. OVioOi-N Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA) Now, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS THAT: 1 he City Council desires to engage the services of the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA) to conduct a mobility and feasibility analysis and study of the entire Southwest Bypass from East Highway 29 to West Highway 29.
