HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_ZBA_02.20.2001 CITY OF GEORGETOWN ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT MEETING MINUTES February 20, 2001 Joe Pondrom called the meeting to order at 6:04 p.m. Other Board members present were Patrick Walsh, Joel Lane and Thomas Bennett. Sheila Johnson arrived late. Staff members present were Cathy Riedel, Assistant City Attorney, Carla Benton, Development Planner and Janis Russell, Recording Secretary. Agenda: (Agenda Item #1, election of Vice-chair, was moved to the bottom of the agenda.) 2. Consideration and possible action on the Minutes of the April 18, 2000, meeting. Patrick Walsh made a motion to approve the minutes as written. Joe Pondrom seconded the motion which passed by a vote of 4-0. 3. Consideration and possible action on a request for Variances to the Zoning Ordinance for Williamson County Criminal Justice Facility, Block 1, Lot 1 and Block 2, Lot 1 and City of Georgetown, Block 22, parts of Lots 1, 2 and 3 and Block 35, Lots 5-8, Block 43, Lots 5-8, located at 6th and Rock Streets and Martin Luther King Street. Carla Benton informed the Board that the applicant had requested deferment of this agenda item until the March, 2001 meeting. Joel Lane made a motion to defer action on this item until the March, 2001 meeting. Thomas Bennett seconded the motion which passed by a vote of 4-0. 4. Discussion and possible action on revision to by-laws. Cathy Riedel informed the Board that she would customize the standard by-laws and bring them back to the Board for consideration at its March, 2001 meeting. Patrick Walsh asked about the provision of alternate members for the Zoning Board of Adjustment. Joe Pondrom asked Janis Russell to draft a letter to Sandra Lee, City Secretary, regarding the need for alternates to the Board. 5. Workshop for the purpose of training and orientation of the Zoning Board of Adjustment. Cathy Riedel discussed the roles and responsibilities of the members of the ZBOA. 1. Election of Vice-chair. Thomas Bennett made a motion to elect Sheila Johnson as Vice-chair. Joel Lane seconded the motion which passed by a vote of 4-0-1. (Sheila Johnson abstained from voting.) With no further business, Thomas Bennett made a motion to adjourn at 6:35 p.m. Patrick Walsh seconded the motion which passed unanimously. /jmr
