S heri Miklaski read from notes from Director Lashley Eric reported both circulation and
visitations were up from November 2009 Enc's report also noted Internet usage was
7,736 for the month of November.
S hen reported Rosa Garcia and Haley Denton had arranged for the music studio
located next to the Library to provide free guitar lessons for kids during the month of
December. She reported the Gingerbread contest voting would end December 14 and
encouraged board members to vote at the end of the meeting.
S heri also reported there would be music program on Sunday, December 19 by the
Texas Rose Strings from 2 PM to 4 PM. She also noted the Friends of the Library
would be selling calendars on that day as well.
S heri reported a number of changes were made to the Library's website based on the
comments from board members at the November 2010 meeting. The New York Times
best sellers page is now dated, the blog articles now have a (..read more) at the end of
entries, the Library's address and hours are at the top of the webpage, and the
databases are easier to find on the catalog page. Shen noted there is a staff committee
meeting to make additional changes to the website.
S heri announced the Library has selected Susan Mallory's Already Home as the next
Georgetown Reads selection. She said a committee has been formed that is
considering having a wine tasting, walking tour, and a display of kitchen gadgets to
promote the book. The story takes place in Georgetown and features many stores and
restaurants located on the square.
Sheri noted the Library had success collecting toys for the Blue Santa project as well as
collecting canned goods for the Caring Place during the holiday season.
Sheri read aloud the patron comments for the month of November.
CONSIDERATION OF AND POSSIBLE ACTION ON THE FOLLOWING.
1. Overdrive downloadable audiobooks - Sheri Miklaski: Sheri announced
OverDrive audiobooks would be available starting December 17. Shen said that
staff had attended a number of training sessions on-line and Laura Evans,
cataloging librarian, provided training for other staff members. Sheri answered a
number of questions about the setup and how the program would work.
2. Bookmobile - Sheri Miklaski: Shen reported Eric Lashley had met with City
Manager Paul Brandenburg, Judy Apel and Louise Beyer from the Friends of the
Library on November 19 to discuss the bookmobile project. Paul Brandenburg
was very supportive of the project and asked Eric to make a presentation to
Council in January to get approval to move forward. Board members asked
about the current position which is frozen and Sheri responded that Paul
supported ' unfreezing' the position, but the decision would be made by City
Council. Shana asked about the Library position posted on the City's website
and Sheri said the position was for a library assistant, due to the fact that Gail
Pruett had resigned from the library to take a position with Apple Computers.
3. Changes to website - Sheri Miklaski. Shen reiterated a number of the
changes that have already been made to the library's website, which were
discussed previously in the Director's report, but asked the board members to
continue to let staff know if there were items that needed to be changed.
4. Schedule of future meetings - Sheri Miklaski: Board members did not need
to make any changes at this time to future meeting dates.
Chair Betty Ann Sensabaugh adjourned the meeting at 7:00 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Anjeanette Courtin, Secretary Betty Ann Sensabaugh, Chair

Comment: THIS NOTE SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO SOME ONE WHO IS ON SPEAKING
TERMS WITH THE LIBRARY COMPUTER! Last Sunday when I as doing my li'l weekly volunteer
task I checked in a book: title Married by Morning author Lisa Kleypas. What ho!! Sez I. Lisa
Kleypas is highlighted by me in the list of favorite authors. I think that is supposed to mean that if a
book comes in that is written by one of my high lighted authors it is supposed to be held for me, and/or
I am supposed to be notified where I am on the waiting list for this new book. Well, that never
happened. Could you speak to the computer about this?? I have checked out and read the book so I no
longer have to be notified that it is in. Is it just me or does this happen to other patrons as well? Jean
