MINUTES:
The meeting was called to order by Chair Betty Ann Sensabaugh at 6:30 PM.
David Ciambrone made the motion to accept the minutes of the April 2010
Library Advisory Board Meeting and Glenn Mautner seconded the motion. The
motion passed unanimously.
DIRECTOR'S REPORT:
Director Lashley reported that circulation was up was up for the month of April,
but visitations, meeting room use, and Internet usage was slightly down.
Eric announced that monetary donations were up for the month of April with
significant donations from the Kiwanis Sun City Club, Optimist Club, and the
Pedernales Electric Cooperative.
Eric reported the staff attended Myers/Briggs training from the Central Texas
Library System (CTLS) in April.
Director Lashley thanked Glenn for being such a good sport at the annual
volunteer luncheon Glenn became apart of the entertainment Eric reported a
good time was had by all that attended (approximately 80 volunteers).
Eric reported he and other staff members attended the Texas Library Association
conference in San Antonio April 14-16.
Eric attended a CTLS bylaws meeting in Giddings, TX Eric shared the proposed
changes and announced bylaws would not be finalized until the September
membership meeting.
Eric announced the upcoming Sculpture reception and music program on
Sunday, May 16 and the current art show from the 9th grade campus.
CONSIDERATION OF AND POSSIBLE ACTION ON THE FOLLOWING.
Report on Texas Library Association annual conference - Eric
Lashley" Eric reviewed his noted from the conference with the board. He
said the staff was looking into implementing a number of the ideas gained
from the conference.
Report on the possible reuse of old library building - Eric Lashley:
Eric read a press release by City Manager, Paul Brandenburg, stating "the
former Public Library at 808 MLK, Jr. Street, built in 1987, which is
currently vacant, could be used for City office space or used for library,
arts, or museum purposes" He noted that no firm plans are currently in
place and the new facility plan would probably not be presented to Council
until the end of June.
Staff survey results - Eric Lashley" Eric distributed the results of a
recent staff survey. He said he had formed 4 teams to address issues
brought about in the survey. Communications, Teamwork, Rearranging
Nonfiction, and Promotion & Marketing
■ Bookmobile - Eric Lashley Eric distributed an informational brochure of
a bookmobile the Friends of the Library are considering purchasing for the
library to start a bookmobile service.
Chair Betty Ann Sensabaugh adjourned the meeting at 7:40 PM.
