The first step in this project will be to weed the nonfiction collection. The staff is also contemplating rearranging the first floor shelving arrangement. ■ Summer Recess — Eric Lashley: After much discussion, the Board decided to meeting during the summer months, but would like to discuss future meeting dates at the next meeting. The show will be in place until July 9. • The art students from the 9th Grade Center displayed their work in the bridge gallery until mid -month and the GISD art teachers brought in their work for the remainder of May. • On the afternoon of May 16 the sculptors held their opening reception and Jitterbug Vipers provided music from the '30s and '40s in the lobby. The unintended convergence of the two events was very successful and the sculptors intend to plan their reception next year at the same time as our monthly live music event. • Suzette Davidson is working to get the new meeting room scheduling software in operation. • Staff committees that are working on teamwork, communication, marketing, and redoing Dewey met three times during the month. • Ralph Love returned to work on May 17 after being off for thirteen weeks due to health issues. • Rosa Garcia, children's services coordinator, and Bethni King, young adult librarian, have visited Georgetown schools this month to publicize their summer programs.
