Members Present: Doug Blackard, Jean Houck, Jeff Gambino, Lilya Crystal, Mark Ramsey, Mark Shepherd, Mike Watson, Ron Doernbach Members Absent: Phil Davis Staff Present: Randy Morrow, Kimberly Garrett, Tom Yantis Minutes Regular Meeting 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Jean Houck at 6:30 pm. 2. Roll Call 3. Update on Heritage Gardens Marge Tripp with Williamson County and Cities Health District (WCCHD) spoke to the board about the Heritage Community Garden and Park Steering Committee. She is asking for two volunteers from the Parks and Recreation Board to serve on the committee. The committee would create a development plan for Heritage Gardens, conduct community outreach, identify funding sources and identify programs which achieve good nutrition and physical activity. Amy Basey with WCCHD updated the board on the progress made so far at Heritage Gardens. She showed some before and after pictures. Some items that have been added are a windmill, hydroponics garden, fruit orchard, garden beds, barn which is the tool shed, and an entrance signs. Amy said they want to develop the Heritage Gardens into a hands on learning tool for the local schools. Amy said they need help getting the windmill working and getting a licensed master electrician to hook up the electricity. 4. Update on Disc Golf Course Frank Hubbard spoke to the board on his plans for the Rivery Disc Golf course for 2004. Frank asked the board for credentials on the website as director/designer of the course. On the course redesign, the three holes that were lost due to the Rivery Pond have been relocated and look good. Frank would like to put in 9 more holes at San Gabriel Park. Frank said if Georgetown had two 18 hole courses, a tournament could bring in 50-100 players. Randy suggested looking at the county park on Berry Springs.
