3. Update on Heritage Gardens
Marge Tripp with Williamson County and Cities Health District (WCCHD) spoke to the board about the
Heritage Community Garden and Park Steering Committee. She is asking for two volunteers from the
Parks and Recreation Board to serve on the committee. The committee would create a development plan
for Heritage Gardens, conduct community outreach, identify funding sources and identify programs which
achieve good nutrition and physical activity.
Amy Basey with WCCHD updated the board on the progress made so far at Heritage Gardens. She
showed some before and after pictures. Some items that have been added are a windmill, hydroponics
garden, fruit orchard, garden beds, barn which is the tool shed, and an entrance signs. Amy said they
want to develop the Heritage Gardens into a hands on learning tool for the local schools.
Amy said they need help getting the windmill working and getting a licensed master electrician to hook up
the electricity.
4. Update on Disc Golf Course
Frank Hubbard spoke to the board on his plans for the Rivery Disc Golf course for 2004. Frank asked the
board for credentials on the website as director/designer of the course. On the course redesign, the three
holes that were lost due to the Rivery Pond have been relocated and look good. Frank would like to put in
9 more holes at San Gabriel Park. Frank said if Georgetown had two 18 hole courses, a tournament
could bring in 50-100 players. Randy suggested looking at the county park on Berry Springs.
