The Parks and Recreation Board of the City of Georgetown, Texas, met on Thursday , February 12, 2004
Members Present:
Jean Houck, Lylia Crystal, Mark Shepherd, Mike Watson, Ron Doernbach, Van Chandler, Doug Blackard

Regular Meeting
1. Call to Order
Jean called the meeting to order at 7:03 pm

3. Discussion with Finance Department on Budget Issues - Micki Rundell and Laurie Brewer
Micki Rundell and Laurie Brewer discussed some community wide questions with the board. The board's
main priorities as citizens included traffic, transportation, and keeping up with growth. Mike also
mentioned the property tax exemption being a big issue. Other issues discussed were the airport,
restruants, and maintaining life in the downtown. Parks and trails were also a priority to the members.
Some things that the board thought should be done are controlling taxes, have Sun City be a part of
Georgetown and also adding a control tower at the airport. The board was asked to get their priorities as
a board to Finance within the next week. These comments will be used for the 2004/2005 budget
process.
4. Discussion on Disc Golf Course - Frank Hubbard
Frank Hubbard helped get the two disc golf courses we have in the City. There is a disc golf tournament
in Round Rock this weekend and some of it will be played in Georgetown. There are also mini
tournaments every Sunday at 2:30. Frank wants to get some signs made for the San Gabriel course.
Frank wants to run a large doubles tournament and wants to temporarily put in an extra 9 holes in San
Gabriel to support the event. Randy said he would look at the location Frank is proposing before a
decision could be made.
Frank was thanked by the board for all his hard work.
5. Information on Upcoming Bond Election in November
Randy discussed the upcoming bond election and how the bond effects Parks and Recreation. Facilities
included are additions to the recreation center and renovations to the Community Center.
6. Approve Minutes from January 15, 2004
Doug Blackard made a motion to approve the minutes from January 15, 2004. Lylia Crystal seconded the
motion and it passed by unanimous vote.

Give update on current projects
Set date for a tour of the parks
