Members Present: Barbara Owens, Kay Cobb, Lilya Crystal, Mark Ramsey, Michael Simpson, Van Chandler Members Absent: Mark Shepherd, Ron Doernbach, Russ Peterman Staff Present: Randy Morrow, Kimberly Garrett, Jill Kellum Minutes Regular Meeting 1. CaII to order Mark Ramsey called the meeting to order at 4:47PM 2. Roll call 3. Heritage Gardens & Park report -Simpson Simpson reported that the Heritage Garden Committee now has a non-profit (501 C3) classification to oversee Heritage Garden. The Committee now has full membership as far as board of directors so that they can apply for grants. At the last meeting the Committee had a tour at the Gardens which includes a trail from Annie Purl Elementary over to the Gardens. Simpson stated Heritage Gardens is City of Georgetown property and Morrow stated the property is mowed by the Parks department and the City of Georgetown supplies and pays for the water. There are a few larger plots still available. 4. Hike/Bike Trail Construction Status -Morrow Morrow reported there is now 1 mile of concrete poured. The contractors have started the river crossings and have been coordinating with the Corps of Engineers at Lake Georgetown to close off the dam. The Parks department is working on the granite trail. Morrow stated they want to keep this area as natural as possible. There have been some delays due to rain but the anticipated date for the ribbon cutting will be in June. In the circle area of the Trail is where the picnic shelter and the playground will be installed. 5. Garey Park Master Plan Update -Morrow Morrow stated the mayor signed the contract with Hall/Bargainer to be the architect for the Master Plan for Garey Park. Bargainer is preparing a time line on how to proceed. The first step will be to meet with the Garey's to get their input, and then there will be charettes to get public input. 6. Approve minutes from March 3, 2005 meeting Chandler made motion to approve the minutes. Cobb seconded and it was passed by unanimous vote. 7. Future agenda items - It was discussed to tour the Hike/Bike Trail Construction for the May meeting. - There was a brief discussion about consideration of a dog park. It was decided that this item will be put on the agenda at a later date. - Garey Park Master Plan - Hike and Bike Trail - Maps of the parks in town on website / print 8.
