Meeting of July 18May 16, 2002
MINUTES

Following verification that a QUORUM was present, Chair Boggs called the Meeting to
order at 6:30 p.m.
DISCUSSION was held on the minutes of the June 20, 2002, meeting.
On a MOTION duly made by Commissioner Baker and seconded by Commissioner
Peterman, the Board voted unanimously to approve the June 20, 2002, minutes.
Working groups presented their reports to the Commission. Commissioner Carr, Chair of
the Recruitment working group, reported that his this group is working to develop a community
priorities statementrecommendation for incentives. The group hopes to have a statement
recommendation to present to the Commission at the August 15th meeting. The Retention
working group reported they had agreed to hold defer meetings until input was received from
TIPS. The Outreach working group announced a joint workshop with the Chamber of Commerce
and the entire Commission had been scheduled for Monday, July 22nd. The Outreach working
group also reported that John Brier, Vice President of Economic Development for the Greater
Austin Chamber, is scheduled to speak in Georgetown on the evening of August 19th. He will
address economic development issues facing the Austin region and Georgetown, as well as the
Greater Austin Chamber economic development opportunities and what it can do for the
community.
The Manager of Economic Growth and Planning, Charlie Walker, presented his staff
report. Charlie gave an overview of the presentations that were given by four local advertisement
agencies regarding their ideas for developing the Economic Development brochure. Alex Cooke,
Jon Roberts, Verna Browning, Keith Hutchison, Charlie Walker, and Cari Miller were present
and evaluated the presentations. Charlie discussed the criteria used to evaluate each presentation
and told the Commission that above group voted unanimously to select Matthew and Company
as the agency to recommend to the Commission.

Charlie also reported that the recommended domain name for the Economic
Development website was investgeorgetown.com.
On a MOTION duly made by Commissioner Pondrom and seconded by Commissioner
Baker, the Board voted unanimously to recommend Matthew and Company to the City Council
to produce the Georgetown Economic Development Commission brochures and to accept the
recommendation of investgeorgetown.com. as the domain name for the Economic Development
website.
DISCUSSION was held regarding communications by Commissioners as private citizens
vs. Commission members. No action was taken.
DISCUSSION was held on agenda items for the next regular meeting of the commission.
The meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
