Lumpkin, Betty Ann Sensabaugh, Holly Tissier, Taunya Vessels City Staff: Shelly Hargrove, Tourism Director Visitors: Milton Van Dusen, Fury/Flight Basketball Tournament; Doug Smith, Palace Theatre; Margie Ranc, Media Relations Professional; Call to Order Vice -chair Chris Dyer called meeting to order at 11:35 a.m. 2. HOT Grant Follow Up Milton Van Dusen with Fury/Flight Basketball gave us final results of the tournament. 3. Hot Grant Application Doug Smith with Georgetown Palace Theater presented an application requesting funds to advertise in Texas Monthly and other media outside of Williamson County. 4. Minutes & Board Action Minutes from the August 3rd meeting reviewed. A MOTION was made and seconded (Benold/Tissier) to approve the minutes. Motion passed. 5. Update from Board Task Forces Identified goals that have not been achieved a named members to take responsibility for the task. • Marketing and Awareness - • New Markets - Nothing new to report. • Visitor Info Centers -1. Betty Ann is going to attend City Council meeting on 9/11/07 to present a letter requesting that the visitors center not be relocated. 2. They are currently working on a brochure for self -guided tour of historic neighborhoods in Georgetown. 6. Staff Report Shelly updated us on upcoming events like South Central Motor Coach Assoc. in Baton Rouge on Sept. 15-18, 2007 TTIA Texas Travel Summit in Houston- Sept. 23-26 and the Up the Chisholm Trail Event on Sept. 29th 7. Meeting adjourned at 1:25 p.m. Approvgdested to. by: RC Lumpkin / Board President C, Date 01 kafALCL 'AA-) /0- Holly Tiser/ Board Secretary Date September 7, 2007 Mayor Nelon and the Georgetown City Council: As volunteers at the Georgetown Visitor Information Center, we urge the city to retain the center at its present location at the corner of 7th and Main Streets. Having the Visitor Information Center on the Square is the most visible and convenient location for visitors as well as the people of Georgetown. Adding public restrooms for the use of our visitors should also be a priority. We serve visitors from all over Texas, the US, and foreign countries, as well as our own Georgetown citizens, and we feel that the Visitor Information Center is a very real asset to our community and to all of Texas. We invite the City Council members and all of the city staff to visit us. Our hours are Monday thru Saturday 9 am till 5 pm and Sunday I pm till 5 pm.
