Meeting Minutes — November 12, 2010
Convention and Visitors Bureau Office
Present: Stephanie Blanck, Ty Gipson, Cari Miller, Georgene Richaud, Taunya Vessels, Bob
Villarreal
Absent: Randy Lesseps and Tina Owen
Guest: Norte
Welcome/Call to order by: Ty Gipson at 8:45 am.
Discussion and possible action: The minutes of the October 15, 2010 were reviewed. No
corrections were made. Georgene R. moved and Bob V. seconded that the minutes be accepted
as written, approved by unanimous vote.
• Update from Arts & Culture Center Study Subcommittee — Georgene Richaud: Georgene and
Cari attended the meeting on October 26th. The discussion focused on promoting it as an
art gallery, exhibition space and not a multi -purpose event center that would generate
revenue. The Art and Culture subcommittee readily admit that it would need a full time
position to staff it but they have no money to support that need. They will be putting a
proposal together for the City Council. They are not in favor of promoting a multi-
purpose event center where rooms can be rented out for meetings and events and
thereby generate revenue. Their next meeting is November 16th and Cari and Georgene
will attend. The CVB discussion included the need for a multi -use event center while
still supporting the needs of the Arts committee. This is a complex issue.
• Report regarding city owned conference centers in comparable sized cities — Georgene Richaud:
No report. Cari will schedule a CVB visit to the Temple Civic Center on December 2nd
• Discussion and possible action on Exemplary Service Certificates — Cari Miller: Cari handed
the CVB members a sample of the nomination forms that can be done on-line. The
question now is to come up with an appropriate name for the award. Ideas should be
sent to Cari. Cari also had several sketches as to a logo and possible pin for the award.
After some discussion, Cari was asked to take the ideas back to the designer for
presentation at the next meeting.
• Update on Visitor Guide and Website redesign — Cari Miller The Visitor's Bureau received 13
proposals. A small committee, that included members of the CVB, reviewed and scored

each proposal. Rhyme or Reason Design company proposal was exceptional. "Sincerely
Yours" will be prevalent in all screens — really promoting the tagline of Georgetown.
This should be rolled out in February 2011.
• Discussion and possible action regarding advertising and media exposure and dates of upcoming
events — Cari Miller: See attached written report. Other discussion —
o The FAM tour came through Georgetown and only stayed a few hours, but
presented the city with several awards including 3rd place overall for Overall City.
n Cari was interviewed by this year's Leadership Georgetown class. It is important that
the community understand that the CVB is part of economic development.
• Taunya V. moved and Bob V. seconded that the meeting by adjourned at 9:50 AM. Approved.
The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for December 2, 2010 at the Visitor's Center at 8:00 AM. After the
meeting the Board will visit the Temple Civic Center.
