Jessica Brettle, City Secretary Convention and Visitors Bureau Board Meeting Minutes February 10, 2012 Visitor's Center Conference Room Present: Stephanie Blanck, Nancy Benold, Ty Gipson, Randy Lesseps, Cari Miller, Tina Owen, Georgene Richaud, and Bob Villarreal Guests: Don McCullough Welcome/Call to order by: Ty G. at 8:31 am. Discussion and Possible action: • Discussion and possible action regarding approval of the December 9, 2011 minutes: Nancy B. moved and Georgene R. seconded, minutes approved as with a typographical error corrected. • Report from Arts and Culture Board concerning possible Arts Center: Eric Lashley, Library Director: Eric provided the CUB with a handout of the timeline and expectations of using the Old Fire House on Main and 9th as a Pilot to launch an Arts Center. There will be gallery space rotating monthly and studio space for classes and workshops, and possible receptions. In the first year, there will need to be assistance for renovations, but it is anticipated that the revenue being brought in should cover all costs. October 6th is the anticipated grand opening. • Discussion and possible action regarding board support letter on possible Arts Center: After much discussion, Randy L. moved that the CVB write a letter in support of the Pilot Arts Center in the old Fire House, Nancy B. seconded, passed unanimously. • Red Poppy Festival Update - Cari Miller: This is the 12th year and it has grown more successful each year. March 1st is the first day to purchase tables for Saturday night with Corey Morrow being the headliner. Sponsorship sales have been very successful already. • Discussion and possible action regarding advertising and media exposure and dates of upcoming events: Cari Miller gave all members a hard copy of the past month as well as upcoming events. Discussion included the March 315t Chalk walk on the Square. All of March will be geared to showcasing the art of school children in the shop windows. Each elementary school has been paired with a shop on the Square. There will be a billboard with the new logo Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas — between Jarrell and Georgetown. Brief discussion on the UIL State Soccer Tournament and the Bike race coming in the spring. Special thanks were given to Tina Owen and Randy Lesseps who have served 2 terms on the CVB and this is their last meeting. They will be replaced by Don McCullough and Shelly Patel (Quality Inn). 1 • Georgene R. moved and Bob V. seconded that the meeting be adjourned at 9:42 arn, approved.
