Housing Advisory Board
Minutes
August 18, 2010, at 3:30 p.m.

Members present: Betty Craig, Vice-Chair, Lalena Parkhurst, Patsy Williams, Dollene Thompson,
Morris Greenberg
Members absent: Tim Todd-Chair, Debbie Hoffman, Janis Cowman-Arteaga
Staff present: Jennifer Bills, Housing Coordinator; Avery Craft, Recording Secretary
This is a regular meeting of the Housing Advisory Board of the City of Georgetown. The Board,
appointed by the Mayor and the City Council, makes recommendations to the City Council on
affordable housing matters.
Regular Session - To begin no earlier than 3:30 p.m.
The meeting was called to order at 3:40 by Jennifer Bills.
Agenda
1. Consideration and possible action to approve minutes from the July 21, 2010 meeting.
There was no action on this item due to lack of quorum at the beginning of meeting.
Board did not revisit this topic.
2. Discussion about the upcoming presentation of the draft Housing Element at the City
Council workshop on August 24, 2010.
a. Review the presentation and make any changes.
Bills discusses general approach for Board to take during the August 24th City Council
workshop presentation. Board agrees on a minimal informational and statistical
presentation and discusses hopes for direction and feedback from Council, post
workshop presentation, August 24.
Lalena Parkhurst suggests initiating presentation with information pertaining to the
benefits of providing affordable housing?
Morris Greenberg points out that the property and sales tax is affected by Housing and
also discusses how many of the streets in Georgetown are being widened, creating more
impervious cover and drainage. Greenberg suggests that two passenger lanes be built, as
it will help commuting time. Parkhurst advises the Housing Board to refrain from
discussing the issue of roads in The City of Georgetown as this topic will potentially
create a target for the Board.

3. Discussion and possible action on future meeting dates.
Board agrees that future meeting dates are dependent upon Council action. The decision
by Council will determine the schedule for working on the Housing Element. The Board
will meet as needed to proceed on the document.
