HomeMy WebLinkAboutPlayscape Design Day_04.23.1993PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, Georgetown is first and foremost a city of families; and WHEREAS, the future of Georgetown lies in the full and complete development, both intellectual and physical, of all the children who live here; and WHEREAS, the children of Georgetown and the surrounding communities must be continually encouraged to use their imaginations in their play; and WHEREAS, the families, teachers, ministers, leaders, and all citizens of Georgetown stand ready to pitch in to improve the lives of the children; and WHEREAS, the economic climate of Georgetown would benefit from any facility that attracts children and their families from neighboring communities for the purpose of healthy entertainment and play; and WHEREAS, the City Council has donated the necessary land and support for a Creative Playscape structure; and WHEREAS, the Georgetown Independent School District has lent its full support to this pro j ect; a and WHE the architecture firm, Robert S. Leathe Ass fates, has assisted 750 communities world -wide uc u in a ast twenty years to build,immense playscapes valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars for a fraction the cost through donat materials and volunteered-labor; and --- �- WHE , 4- a rganization stands ready-to assist the children and families of Georgetown to design and construct a Creative Playscape q San Gabriel Park. NOW , f f THEREFORE I LEO WOOD, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby proclaim Friday, April 23, 1993, as PLAYSCAPE DESIGN DAY �J i r
