HomeMy WebLinkAboutMain Street Baptist 20th Anniversary_10.4.2009 P R O C L A M A T I O N WHEREAS, the Main Street Baptist Church is involved in many missions and ministries globally and locally; and WHEREAS, Main Street Baptist Church has participated in many Relay for Life events for cancer survivors and caregivers; and WHEREAS, the church has given generously to Texas, North America and overseas missions and taken mission trips to Dallas, Idaho, Northern Mexico, Madagascar, Brazil, Czech Republic, Uganda and Matamoros; and WHEREAS, the church operated the Children’s Center, a day care for preschoolers, and donated space in the church building for Faith in Action Caregivers, Christmas Stroll, Red Poppy Festival, Heritage Society Church Tour, Georgetown Garden Club and various recitals ; and WHEREAS, the Ministry Center was opened for the needs of evacuees from hurricanes Katrina and Rita for months; and WHEREAS, in July 2009, Main Street Baptist teamed with other churches to repair three homes for the Community Restore Project ; and WHEREAS, Main Street stands as a recognizable entity in the Historical District at the southern entry to the City of Georgetown; and WHEREAS, Main Street Baptist Church is celebrating their 20th Anniversary. NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE GARVER, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby proclaim Sunday, October 4, 2009, as MAIN STREET BAPTIST CHURCH DAY
