HomeMy WebLinkAboutCaring Place 20th Anniversary_6.08.2010P R O C L A M A T I O N WHEREAS, the Caring Place serves families in economic crisis in Georgetown and Northern Williamson County, Texas because of the dedication and commitment of over 300 volunteers and 12 employees; and WHEREAS, record numbers of families are turning to The Caring Place for assistance due to the rapidly increasing population growth of the area and the impact of the recent economic crisis on families; and WHEREAS, more than 1,000 first-time families turned to The Caring Place for assistance in 2009; and WHEREAS, The Caring Place provided over 330 tons of food to area families through their 5 feeding programs; and WHEREAS, all assistance to families is provided because of the generous donations of time and dollars from the communities served and through the sales of donated items through the Fabulous Finds Thrift Store; and WHEREAS, The Caring Place has been serving Georgetown and Northern Williamson County Families since 1985, and will be celebrating its 25th anniversary of service on June 8, 2010 NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE GARVER, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby proclaim June 8, 2010 as CARING PLACE DAY and congratulate the organization on its 25th anniversary of service.
