HomeMy WebLinkAboutNational Arts and Humanities Month_10.12.10 P R O C L A M A T I O N WHEREAS, the month of October has been recognized as National Arts and Humanities Month by thousands of arts and cultural organizations, communities, and states across the century, as well as by the President and Congress for more than two decades; and WHEREAS, the arts and humanities enhance and enrich the lives of every American including the economy, job creation, education, creativity, and community livability; and WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown has numerous active arts organizations including the Palace Theatre, Sarofim School of Fine Arts, the Fine Arts Department of the Georgetown Independent School District, Georgetown Art Works, Georgetown Symphony Society, Williamson Museum, and the Williamson County Art Guild. NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE GARVER, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby proclaim the month of October 2010 as NATIONAL ARTS AND HUMANITIES MONTH in Georgetown, Texas and call upon all citizens to join with me in supporting the arts in our community.
