HomeMy WebLinkAboutPi Kappa Alpha Centennial Day_11.12.10 P R O C L A M A T I O N WHEREAS, the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternal Organization was established in 1868 in Virginia; and WHEREAS, the Alpha Omicron Chapter was established in 1910, and is the mother chapter of the Lone Star Region; and WHEREAS, the Alpha Omicron Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha at Southwestern University in Georgetown holds a strong commitment to academics and this group of men continue to set the example with their studies at Southwestern, in the Georgetown community and in their Fraternity nationally, year after year; and WHEREAS, the Alpha Omicron Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha continue to commit men to campus organizations, both as leaders and as members, and continue to give thousands of dollars and community service hours, annually, to Ride on Center for Kids in Georgetown; and WHEREAS, the Founders of the Alpha Omicron Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha were initiated on the 12th of November, 1910; and WHEREAS, the Alpha Omicron Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha will be welcoming alumni from the 1950s to the 2000s from November 5th to November 7th to coincide with their celebration of their Centennial with Southwestern University’s Homecoming; and WHEREAS, the Alpha Omicron Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha has been located at Southwestern University for one hundred years. NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE GARVER, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby proclaim the 12th of November, 2010 as PI KAPPA ALPHA, ALPHA OMICRON CENTENNIAL DAY in Georgetown, Texas
