P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, Mason Crosby was born in Lubbock, Texas and graduated from Georgetown High School in 2003.
During his years as a football player at GHS, Mason earned many accolades including first-team all district 13-5A
honors. As a senior, he tied for the third longest field goal in state history with a career-best 59 yarder; and
WHEREAS, after high school, Mason Crosby attended the University of Colorado and majored in
Communication. As a Colorado football player, he established several season and career records and earned
various awards. He made the All-Big 12 Conference first-team choice for three years in a row and became the
first player in Big 12 Conference history to be named Player of the Week eight times; and
WHEREAS, Mason was chosen to play for the Green Bay Packers in the 2007 NFL Draft, he is the first player in
NFL history to kick a 50-yard field goal and a game-winning field goal with under a minute remaining in his NFL
debut. His 397 career points are the most in NFL history by a player in his first three seasons; and
WHEREAS, Mason was chosen as Team Captain of the Green Bay Packers for Super Bowl XLV and on February
6, 2011, he scored 7 points to help the Packers win Super Bowl XLV by beating the Pittsburgh Steelers with a
score of 31 to 25; and
WHEREAS, Mason participates in many charitable organizations and events throughout the community and is
actively involved in supporting the military and our nation’s troops; and
WHEREAS, Mason regularly speaks to high school students about the value of an education and the importance
of staying in school. The City of Georgetown is proud to have Mason Crosby as an exceptional role model for all
Georgetown High School students.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE GARVER, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby
proclaim April 22, 2011 as
MASON CROSBY DAY
