P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, nurses share core values, standards of practice and a commitment to improving
the health and well-being of their patients; and
WHEREAS, the depth and breadth of the nursing profession meets the different and
emerging healthcare needs of the American population in a wide range of settings; and
WHEREAS, the American Nurses Association, as the voice for nurses of this country, is
working to chart a course for a healthy nation that relies on increasing delivery of primary and
preventative health care; and
WHEREAS, the knowledge and understanding that nurses demonstrate is vital to the quality
care they provide; and
WHEREAS, St. David’s Georgetown Hospital wishes to pay special tribute to nurses working
at the hospital; and
WHEREAS, the Georgetown City Council wishes to pay special tribute to all nurses living
and working in the Georgetown community and extend our sincere appreciation for their ongoing
dedication and commitment to the profession.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE GARVER, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS, do hereby proclaim MAY 6-12, 2011 as
NURSES WEEK
in Georgetown, Texas
and urge all citizens to show their appreciation of nurses and commend them for choosing such a
dutiful and respected profession.
