HomeMy WebLinkAboutPink Heals Day_10.25.11 P R O C L A M A T I O N WHEREAS, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the City of Georgetown joins the City’s Firefighters in welcoming The Pink Heals Tour in order to bring awareness and fight breast cancer, as well as all cancers, with energy, devotion and compassion; and WHEREAS, the promise of our civic organizations, non-profits, dedicated healthcare providers and educational institutions is to further this awareness, save lives and care for those with cancer by forever empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cure; and WHEREAS, cancer is one of the deadliest diseases, we need to come together to fight it. This means more of us who have not been affected need to step up and lead the way. Firefighters and community leaders, speaking on behalf of our women, are showing that they care by wearing the color pink; and WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown salutes and congratulates the firefighters of our community as well as Dave Graybill and Guardians of the Ribbon and cancers survivors who have triumphed over this devastating disease. Their courage and spirit are inspirations to us. NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE GARVER, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby proclaim October 25, 2011 as PINK HEALS DAY in Georgetown, Texas, and urge everyone to join in the fight to promote cancer awareness and to find a cure for all cancers.
