P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, Mary Grumbles was born on May 11, 1912 and has been a life-long resident of Georgetown; and
WHEREAS, she married Henry Peaslee and together, they had a son, Tom Peaslee; and
WHEREAS, Mary and Henry ran Peaslee Meat Market and Grocery Store and many remember her working
for Wag a Bag Groceries and Snack Shop; and
WHEREAS, during her early years, Mary and her family attended Main Street Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, after Henry passed away, Mary married Mr. Jack Grumbles until his death; and
WHEREAS, Mary Grumbles continues to be a member of the VFW Auxiliary of Georgetown and currently
resides at Park Place Campus of Care. She enjoys playing dominoes and continues to laugh and live life to its
fullest; and
WHEREAS, Mary is an inspiration to all who are privileged to know her and it is a pleasure to honor her at
this time.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE GARVER, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do
hereby proclaim May 11, 2012 as
MARY GRUMBLES DAY
in Georgetown, Texas and congratulate Mary on her 100th Birthday.
