HomeMy WebLinkAboutRotary Club 50th Anniversay_4.6.2012 P R O C L A M A T I O N WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of Georgetown was chartered on February 28, 1962. Its motto is “Service Above Self” and focuses to be a model for all citizens; and WHEREAS, the Georgetown Rotary Club’s projects include an emphasis on youth through scholarships as well as leadership training, donating books to local libraries and forming service clubs at Georgetown High School, East View High School and Southwestern University; and WHEREAS, other projects include support of the Lone Star Circle of Care, The Caring Place, The Georgetown Project and the Georgetown Independent School District, to name a few; and WHEREAS, the Georgetown Rotary Club helps to bring recognition to Georgetown through partnership arrangements with other Rotary Clubs throughout Central Texas and around the world; and WHEREAS, the Rotary Club actively encourages good citizenship through the promotion of an integrity based creed: “The Rotary Four Way Test,” and through the participation of its members in various community events; and WHEREAS, the Georgetown Rotary Club is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in Georgetown. NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE GARVER, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby proclaim April 20, 2012 as: GEORGETOWN ROTARY CLUB DAY
