A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AMENDING RESOLUTION 021406-HH ORDERING A GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON MAY 13, 2006, ORDERING A RUN-OFF ELECTION, IF NECESSARY, AND ESTABLISHING PROCEDURES FOR SAID ELECTIONS TO UPDATE AND REVISE THE EARLY VOTING LOCATIONS. WHEREAS, on February 14, 2006, the City Council passed a resolution providing that on Saturday, May 13, 2006, there shall be a General Election at which shall be elected the following officials for this City: Two (2) Members of the Georgetown City Council: one Councilmember from each of Districts 1 and 5; and WHEREAS, the incumbent candidate for Councilmember for District 1, Patty Eason, has drawn no opposition and on April 11, 2006 the City Council passed an Order canceling the election in District 1 and declaring the unopposed candidate, Patty Eason, to be elected as Councilmember for District 1; and WHEREAS, the City Council in Resolution 021406-HH agreed to contract with the Williamson County Elections Administrator for conduct of said election; and WHEREAS, the Williamson County Elections Administrator asked and Council approved a joint election agreement with all other entities contracting with the Williamson County Elections Administrator for conduct of their elections on May 13, 2006; and WHEREAS, the Williamson County Elections Administrator has advised the City that some of the early voting locations referenced in Resolution No. 021406-HH will not be available for early voting, and that he has deemed it financially efficient for all contracting parties to eliminate other of the early voting and election day polling locations and that such changes will have no adverse effect on voters and WHEREAS, the cancellation of the election for City Councilmember for District 1 also necessitates the elimination of certain other early voting and election day voting locations. Resolution No. 0 Amending Early Voting Locations General Election 2006 Page 1 of 4 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS THAT: SECTION 1. VERIFICATION OF FACTS The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. SECTION 2. CONFORMANCE WITH CENTURY PLAN The City Councilhas found that this action implements the following Century Plan Policy Statements: Policy Statement 14 A high level of cooperation and involvement exists among Georgetown's citizens and governmental organizations. Policy Statement 16 Georgetown City Government will operate openly and under the highest ethical standards. The City Council further has found that this action is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policy Statements, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan. SECTION 3. EARLY VOTING Early Voting by Personal Appearance shall take place at the following locations: Main Location: Williamson County Inner Loop Annex 301 SE Inner Loop Georgetown, Texas Branch Locations: Grace Heritage Center, 811 Main St., Georgetown, Texas (eliminated because of cancellation of District I election) Celebrations Store, 3010 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas. (Store closed. Replaced with a branch location at the GISD Administration Building, 603 Lakeway Drive, Georgetown, Texas, which is about 3 blocks west of the Celebration Store.) Sun City Social Center, 2 Texas Drive, Georgetown, Texas (eliminated because the school district does not have an issue on the May ballot) Resolution No. (0 - Amending Early Voting Locations General Election 2006 Page 2 of 4 Allen R. Baca. Center, 301 Bagdad Ave., Round Rock, Texas (eliminated at the direction of the County Elections Administrator) Brushy Creek Community Center, 16318 Great Oaks Dr., Round Rock, Texas Clay -Madsen Recreation Center, 1600 Gattis School Road, Round Rock, Texas Round Rock ISD Admin Building, 1311 Round Rock Ave., Round Rock, Texas Anderson Mill Municipal Utility District, 11500 El Salida Parkway, Austin, Texas (eliminated at the direction of the County Elections Administrator) Cedar Park Public Library, 550 Discovery Blvd., Cedar Park, Texas 78613 Austin Community College Campus, 1555 Cypress Creek Rd., Cedar Park, Texas Pat Bryson Municipal Hall, 201 N. Brushy, Leander, Texas Taylor City Hall, 400 Porter St., Taylor, Texas GISD Administration Building, 603 Lakeway Drive, Georgetown, Texas (added to replace the location at Celebrations Store) Each location will remain open from 7.00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, beginning on the 12th day preceding the date of the election, which is Monday, May 1, 2006, and ending on the fourth day before Election Day, which is Tuesday, May 9, 2006. This early voting schedule includes at least two weekdays during which the early voting locations will be open for 12 hours. Early Voting shall also be conducted on Sunday, May 7, 2006, from noon to 6:00 p.m. at all Early Voting Locations In the event of a Runoff Election, Early Voting by Personal Appearance shall take place at the four Georgetown locations hsted above and marked with an asterisk (*) beginning Monday, June 5, 2006, through Tuesday, June 13, 2006. Each location will remain open from 7.00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. from Monday through Saturday and on Sunday, June 11, 2006, from noon to 6:00 p.m. This early voting schedule for the Runoff Election includes at least two weekdays during which the early voting locations will be open for 12 hours. SECTION 4. ELECTION DAY VOTING Election Day Voting shall take place from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the following locations: Main Street Ministry Center 1100 S. Main St., Georgetown for voters in County Voting Precincts 142, 168, 314, 357 and 370 (eliminated because of cancellation of District 1 election) Georgetown Independent School District Administration Building, 603 Lakeway Drive, Georgetown for voters in County Voting Precincts 301, 330. 332, 371, and 379. Resolution No ogaz5 0.6, Amending Early Voting Locations General Election 2006 Page 3 of 4 Georgetown Post Office, 2300 Scenic Drive, Georgetown for voters in County Voting Precincts 308, 343, 345, and 369 (eliminated because of cancellation of District 1 election) In the event of a Runoff Election on June 17, 2006, the same election day voting locations will be used as stated above for the General Election on May 13, 2006. SECTION 5. AUTHORIZATION TO EXECUTE The Mayor of the City of Georgetown is authorized to execute and the City Secretary is authorized to attest to this Order on behalf of the City Council; and the Mayor is further authorized to do all other things legal and necessary in connection with the holding and consummation of the General Election. SECTION 6. PREAMBLE TRUE AND CORRECT The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein andmade a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. SECTION 7. EFFECTIVE DATE Except as specifically amended hereby, Resolution. No. 021406-HH remains in full force and effect.
