A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS,
APPROVNG ELECTION OFFICIALS FOR THE SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE
HELD ON NOVEMBER 2, 2004, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on August 24, 2004, by Resolution 082404-U, the City Council of the City of
Georgetown, Texas called a Special Election to be held on November 2, 2004, to decide for or against the
proposition of adopting the Police Officers' Civil Service Law; and
WHEREAS, also on August 24, 2004, by Resolution 082404-T, the City Council of the City of
Georgetown, Texas called a Special Election to be held on November 2, 2004, to decide for or against three
bond propositions; and
WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of Georgetown is required by State Law to appoint the
election judges for elections called by the governing body.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS THAT:
SECTION 1 - VERIFICATION OF FACTS
The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are hereby found and declared
to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied
verbatim.
SECTION 2 - CONFORMANCE WITH CENTURY PLAN
The City Council has found that this action implements Governmental Affairs Focus End 15.01 of the
Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, which states: "All citizens actively participate in governmental functions;"
and Transportation Policy End 10.00 which states: "Citizens and commercial goods move safely and
efficiently throughout all parts of the City;' and has found that this action is not inconsistent or in conflict with
any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan.
SECTION 3 — ELECTION JUDGES
By approval of this resolution, the City Council approves the selection of the judges and alternate
judges as proposed to be hired by John Willingham, Williamson County Elections Administrator, to conduct
the City of Georgetown Special Election in conjunction with the November 2, 2004, State and County General
Election. The list of proposed judges and alternate judges for the November 2, 2004 Election is included
herein as "Exhibit A. '
SECTION 4 - EFFECTIVE DATE
1'he Mayoi is hereby authorized to sign this resolution and the City Secretary to attest. This resolution
shall become effective and be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage.
