WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown and other Central Texas Cities have significant problems
with regard to the overpopulation of white -tail deer within their jurisdictions which adversely
affects human health and public safety;
WHEREAS, there are significant costs associated with the control of the ever-expanding white-
tail deer population in these jurisdictions;
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown supports House Bill 1427 and Senate Bill 1582, which will allow
political subdivisions of the State of Texas to authorize the trapping, transporting, and transplanting
of white -tail deer found within the boundaries of the political subdivision without obtaining a permit
or license from the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife; and
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown fully supports the
decision of the City
of Lakeway
to hire a
lobbyist to assist with its efforts to ensure the passage
of House Bill 1427
and Senate
Bill 1582,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT.
The City of Georgetown fully supports House Bill 1427 and Senate Bill 1582, which will allow political
subdivisions of the State of Texas to authorize the trapping, transporting, and transplanting of white-
tail deer found within the boundaries of the political subdivision without obtaining a permit or license
from the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife.
At this time, the City of Georgetown is unable to commit or aid in the funding for any lobbyists hired
by the City of Lakeway to assist in the efforts to ensure passage of these two bills.
