IV( ARESOLUTION CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON DECEMBER 20, 2003, AND CALLING A RUNOFF ELECTION WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas ordered an election to be held on Saturday, December 20, 2003, for the purpose of the following: To elect a Councilmember from City of Georgetown Single -Member District 7; and WHEREAS, the City Council has investigated all matters pertaining to said election, including the ordering, giving notice, holding and making returns of said election; and WHEREAS, the election officers who held said election have prepared the returns of the results thereof, and the returns have been delivered to the City Council; and WHEREAS, it appears from the returns, duly and legally made, that the following votes were cast: (3i7:tiZg1�I�C�IiIIIT, i4fric]: a In pq&AIowl I" Ben Oliver 136 Jeff VerColen 58 Mark Ramsey 89 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN TEXAS, that: SECTION 1. The City Council officially finds and determines that the election was duly called; that proper notice of the election was given in accordance with law; that the election was held in accordance with law; that returns of the results of the election have been made and delivered, and that the City Council has canvassed the returns, all in accordance with the law and the resolution calling the election. SECTION 11. WHEREAS, it appears from said returns, duly and legally made, that No one candidate received the majority of the votes for Councilmember for District 7, necessitating a Runoff Election between Ben Oliver and Mark Ramsey on Saturday, January 24, 2005, SECTION III. It is further found and determined that in accordance with the order of this governing body, the City Secretary posted written notice of the date, place and subject of this meeting on the bulletin board located outside of City Hall, a place convenient and readily accessible to the general public, and said notice was posted and remained posted continuously for at least 72 hours preceding the Canvass of District 7 Special Election Resolution No. / 45 Page 1 of 2 Pages scheduled time of the meeting. A copy of the posting shall be attached to the minutes of this meeting and shall be made a part thereof for all intents and purposes. PASSED AND APPROVED on this 30th day of December, 2003.
