Resolution No. 071 05 A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, Adopting an Annexation Policy to Guide the Planning and Procedures for the Annexation of Territory into the City Limits WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown, Texas is committed to preserving and enhancing the quality of life and unique character of Georgetown, preserving the rich heritage and natural resources, promoting well -panned development, and protecting its citizens, the environment and all other assets; and WHEREAS, Georgetown's land uses support economic, cultural and social activities for all residents, businesses and organizations; and WHEREAS, Georgetown's prehistoric, historic and cultural resources need to be preserved, protected and promoted; and WHEREAS, the positive, identifiable image of Georgetown needs to be enhanced and protected; and WHEREAS, Georgetown's utility systems must continue to promote the economic health of the community; and WHEREAS, the City Council did, on April 26, 2005 adopt Annexation Policy: Voluntary Annexation Process, which contains eleven annexation policy goals to guide the annexation process in the City of Georgetown. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS THAT: SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements the following policies of the Century Plan — Policy Plan Element: Adoption of an Annexation Policyn Resolution No jzosse Page 1 of 5 Environmental and Resource Conservation End 3.0, which states: "The physical qualities that make Georgetown attractive area protected"; and 2. Growth and Physical Development End 7.2, which states: "Annexation procedures and standards benefit the communi and further finds that the adoption of this resolution is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan. SEC 11ON 2. The City Council of the City of Georgetown hereby adopts an annexation policy, attached as Exhibit A, to guide the planning and procedures for the annexation of territory into the City limits. SECTION 3. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign on behalf of the City Council of the City of Georgetown. SECTION 4. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
