GEORGETOWN PUBLIC LIBRARY
September 2012
HIGHLIGHTS
• The staff had a retirement party for Kathleen Burnop on September 15.
• The Williamson County Art Guild displayed their work in the second floor galleries
ries
during September. The Luis Angel Ibanez Trio entertained with romantic Latin music
on Sunday, September 16
• The WOWlmobile began its fall -spring schedule on September 10. Patrons at several
of the large apartment complexes that had service during the summer have asked
Michele to continue coming year around. Michele is trying to work a few more stops
into her already full schedule.
• The Arts and Culture Board selected images proposed by Judith Shriner and Davin
Hoyt for the utility box art project. Shriner's images for the 7th Street box are
photographs of a quilt she made and Hoyt's images for the 8 t" Street box are
designed to "hide" the box in plain sight, with photographs on each aide of the
treetsca e that is behind it. Ideal Signs will create wraps for the boxes from the
photographic images.
• September 30 was the end of the fiscal year. Staff worked steadily in the previous two
weeks to spend down book budgets and ether lines in the operations budget.
STAFF ACTIVITIES:
• Eric Lashley had breakfast on September 21 with librarians from several nearby
libraries. Sheri Miklas i had lunch a few days earlier with other local public librarians.
These networking events are a good way to identify common issues.
• an September 28 Eric Lashley and Linda Nix attended a CTL.S membership
meeting in Salado. In the afternoon, Young Adult Librarian Bethi King and Tani
Nietfeld, our new staff member in the children's area, attended a YA workshop that
was part of the CTLS meeting.
