Members of the Parks staff did the actual moving of the shelving while library staff removed all of the books and then put them back on the reconfigured shelves. Inservice training also occurred during this time • The WOW!mobile did not operate the week that the library was closed for inventory. Michele used the time to get caught up on paperwork and organize her collection. She took two days of vacation later in the month, so Eric Lashley took the WOW!mobile to its stops on October 12 and Sheri Miklaski drove the route on October 15. • Entries in the 2012 Art Hop show filled the second floor galleries during October. Other entries were hung at several locations in the downtown. The reception for the show, which was held at the library on Friday, October 12, was very well attended. • On Sunday, October 14, Jitterbug Vipers performed music of the 40s and 50s in the library lobby. The live music event was sponsored by the Friends of the Library. • Kalena Powell began working October 12 as the part-time children's services staff member in charge of storytimes. Kalena is bilingual and will do bilingual storytimes the second week of each month. She is also a registered yoga instructor who has been teaching yoga to preschoolers for some time. She will have a yoga storytime the fourth Thursday of each month. • Rosa Garcia, Children's Services Specialist for the past 20 years, announced that she will retire on December 31, 2012. • New software added to the TexShare databases includes Learning Express Library and Job & Career Accelerator. Learning Express Library contains tutorials for learning such software as Word and Excel. These are welcome resources when we are unable to offer computer classes. STAFF ACTIVITIES: • Eric Lashley met with the Friends of CTLS on October 15 for the purpose of disbanding the organization. CTLS will be doing its own fund-raising from now on.
