Board members present: Charles Aguillon, Addie Busfield, Jane Paden, Penny Plueckhahn,
Georgene Richaud, Ruth Roberts, Mandy Solin
Board members absent none

Special Session
A. Call to order. Ruth Roberts called the meeting to order at 1:05 p.m.
B. Consideration and possible action regarding the purchase of artwork(s), not to exceed a total
of $3,000, at the Art in the Park event. Four members of the Board (Ruth Roberts, Addie
Busfield, Jane Paden, and Mandy Solm) served as jurors to select the Best in Show artist for the
Art in the Park show. Therefore, they had lookedat each artist's work and had identified
several artists that they wanted the assembled board to visit.
Mandy suggested Vladimir Ovtcharov and Irina Dinkevich Addie suggested Vicki Bolen, and
Jane and Ruth suggested Julie Rice. Charles, who had visited the booths separately from the
jurors, also liked Julie Rice's work.
The group boarded golf carts and visited the above booths plus Rod Garrett's. At each booth
they examined all of the artist's works and identified ones that several members found
appealing. the formal meeting resumed after these informal discussions.
Ruth moved to purchase one of Rod Garrett's acrylic sculptures and Vicki Bolen's Avian
Elevator. Charles seconded the motion. After discussion pro and con, some board members
objected to having to vote on two works at once, so Ruth amended the motion to remove
Vicki Bolen s work from consideration. Charles seconded the amended motion. Motion
passed with four m favor and Georgene, Mandy, and Jane opposed.
Ruth moved to purchase Vicki Bolen's embellished print called Avian Elevator, the cost of
which was $600 Georgene seconded the motion which passed 6 to 1 with Mandy opposed.
Since a specific work by Rod Garrett had not been selected, Georgene moved that Ruth,
Charles, and Penny be in charge of making the selection, at a cost not to exceed $2400. Addie
seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. (The three members subsequently selected
Got It!)
Meeting was adjourned at 2:15 p.m.
