MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD
MEETING MINUTES
8 A.M. - DECEMBER 18, 2003
CITY HALL 2ND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM
In attendance: Bryant Boyd Chairman, Bob Weimer Secretary, Ellie Skross, Shannon
Baldridge Main Street Manager, Shelly Hargrove Main Street Incoming, Nancy Rister,
Tom Yantis Assistant City Manager.
Bryant called to order at 8:10am
Minutes were read and approval offer by Ellie Skross with a second by Bob Weimer, all
approved.
Outgoing Manager Shannon Baldridge made an introduction of Shelly Hargrove
Georgetown Main Street Manager and Tourism Director. Shannon was presented with a
gift and a round of thanks for her work in Georgetown.
Staff Report, Shannon reported her last workday would be Dec. 19. Other areas with
brief discussion were, Façade Fund Apps, Falcones application was received and a letter
of approval will be sent after final inspection is complete.
Red Poppy artist was chosen. Brand development meeting set for January 2004.
Christmas Stroll was a success, well attended and the children’s area attracted many. Fox
news covered the event. City website redesign is on hold. Texas Main Street Managers
training will bring Managers to Georgetown the afternoon of Jan. 12, for a tour of the
Square and local businesses. The Bistro will host a reception in the afternoon.
Board members were reminded to submit applications for a new term if their term is
expiring. Deadline is Dec. 31, 2003
Managed Parking Report, Bob Weimer reported that the Hospitality Parking Pass
design will be worked on, and the information flyer is ready for final approval ant the
next meeting of Main Street Board. City Manager will continue the educational meetings
in Jan.2004 and we still hope to begin enforcement of the parking plan in February.
Downtown Brand Development is on a temporary hold. Liz Atherton will take up the
activity again in January.
Topics of general discussion with no action taken and no motions made: Downtown
Development Corp, and Downtown TIF, Tom Yantis gave a brief overview on these
topics, informational discussion ensued. Additional planning and partnering with the city
will be discussed at the January meeting of Main Street. Façade Fund Application is
complicated and needs to be more users friendly. Next meeting agenda items to include,
Managed Parking, Retreat date for Main Street Board, New Member Packets, Main Street
Board 2004 Goals report to City Council.
Next Meeting January 15th 8am Location TBA. Adjourned at 9:30 am.
