MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MINUTES
4:00 P.M. – APRIL 11, 2006
PARKS & RECREATION ADMINISTRATION BUILDING
Board Members Present: Gordon Baker, chair; Cindy Locke, vice‐chair, Dana
Wood, Beverly Adam, Kirk Kriegel and Larry
McCormick, Laura Eliel
Board Members Absent: Sarah Jane Blankenship, Terri Brisse
City Staff Present: Shelly Hargrove, Main Street Manager, Cari Miller, CVB

1) Call to order 4:02 P.M. by chair Baker
2) Locke moved that Minutes for March 14 be approved. Second by Woods.
Motion carried.
3) Staff Report: Hargrove presented new Parks and Recreation Guide. A
suggested change in meeting time to 2nd Wednesday at 8:00 A.M. was
discussed. The Museum was the 1st choice as a location and City Hall was
2nd. Hargrove reviewed the coming calendar of events. These included:
Historic Preservation Conference 4/20‐22, Main Street Retreat 4/26, Poppy
Festival 4/29‐30, Main Street Resource Team 5/2‐5, Artspace Grand
Opening 5/17, Nat’l Main Street Conference 6/3‐7, Georgetown Festival of
the Arts 6/1‐4. Games of Texas 7/21‐23 and 7/27‐30. Cari Miller reported
that Poppy Festival preparations were near completion and passed
around a volunteer sheet for Board members willing to work at the
Festival.
4) Updates from Committees:
Economic Restructuring ‐ no activity to report

Organization ‐ no activity to report
Promotion – Laura Eliel suggested that Main Street might wish to hold an
ice cream social on the square for attendees of the Texas Games.
Chairman Baker directed her to look into the possibility of holding such
an event.
Design – Blankenship reported that Kelly Moore would donate paint for
the mural project at the corner of Main & 7th. Work on this project will
commence on 5/19.
5) Kriegel moved to accept the proposed changes in the Façade Grant
Application. Eliel seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. The
changes alter the existing wording of the 2nd sentence of paragraph 3
under the heading, “Façade & Sign Reimbursement Grant Details” to “No
grants will be awarded for work that has already been done or for work
that is covered by insurance”. Additionally the sentence, “I have not
received nor will I receive insurance monies for this renovation project”
was added to the paragraph beginning with the words, “I have met” on
the signature page (page 9).
6) Hargrove announced the Main Street retreat would take place on
Wednesday, April 26th beginning at 9 a.m. in the Williamson County
Historical Museum.
7) Meeting adjourned at 5:10 P.M.
