MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MINUTES
8 A.M. – NOVEMBER 7, 2007
WILLIAMSON COUNTY HISTORICAL MUSEUM
Board Members Present: Gordon Baker, chair; Kirk Kriegel, vice chair; Ellen
Davis, secretary; Beverly Adam; Terri Countess; Bob
Hewgley; Cheri Thanos
City Staff Present: Shelly Hargrove, Tourism Director & Main Street
Manager; Cari Miller, CVB Coordinator; Robbie Wyler,
Historic District Planner
Guest Present: Lee Nash, David Voelter
1. The meeting was called to order at 8:01 a.m. by Chair Gordon Baker.
2. Kirk made a motion to approve the minutes of the October 10 meeting and
Cheri seconded it. The minutes were approved by all present.
3. David Voelter presented an application for a Façade Fund Grant for the
Williamson County Historical Museum. The museum requested $2,681 for
lighting, an ultrasonic bird repellent and some repainting. There was some
discussion as to whether the first two items were appropriate uses of facade
fund money. Gordon made a motion to approve their request and Bev
seconded it. Terri abstained from the vote because she works for the county,
but all others approved the motion.
4. Robbie Wyler was introduced as the new historic planner. He gave an update
on HARC activities.
5. Cari and Shelly presented the staff report. There are now plans to have a
citywide garage sale benefiting the façade fund on the last weekends in
L:\Global\Boards and Commissions\Minutes\MSTAB\2007\07-11-7 M.doc
March and October. The event will be held in the city parking lot. Holiday
lights are going up next week. Cari asked for volunteers to help with the
lighting of the square on Nov. 23. She also asked board members to help
distribute the holiday posters.
6. The board discussed options for the December meeting. This is traditionally a
holiday party. Options included an evening event that would include a tour
of some buildings on the square. It was also suggested that we do something
in conjunction with HARC and/or CVB.
7. The board visited with Lee Nash, who is restoring the building at 718 S.
Austin Ave. He hopes to lease it for a restaurant. Nash hopes to complete his
work by late spring or early summer.
8. Meeting adjourned at 9:20 a.m.
