MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MINUTES
8 A.M. – MAY 6, 2009
CHISHOLM TRAIL COMMUNITIES FOUNDATION BLDG.
2ND FLOOR, 116 W. 8TH ST.
Board Members Present: Chris Dyer, chair; Connie Watson, secretary; Pete
Smith, Tiffany McLendon, Tamara Hudgins, Denise
Jimenez
Board Members Absent: Trevor Dunham
City Staff Present: Robbie Wyler, Historic District Planner
1. The meeting was called to order at 8:07 a.m. by Chair Chris Dyer.
2. Pete Smith made a motion to approve the April 8th meeting minutes. The
motion was seconded by Tamara Hudgins. Minutes were approved by all.
3. Robbie Wyler gave the HARC Update. There will be new signage for
businesses moving out and going in. Applications going on at the moment
are: 1. A blade sign proposal for Tamiro Plaza for Silver & Stone restaurant; 2.
S. Main St. demolition residential area. Pending items include Contessa and
Rock & 8th St. In June, Robbie said he will give a presentation on HARC and
its process and procedures.
4. Chris Dyer gave the Staff Report. Happenings around down town include
the Red Poppy Festival, Georgetown Heritage Society walking tour of
downtown, Old Settler’s Pioneer Days and Williamson Museum Salon. Also
a rendering by the THC of the fire station for a winery to be housed there was
shown. PR exposure was good so far for National Preservation Month.
5. Committee Reports”
a. Design: Tiffany gave an overview of the design committee and
said they plan to meet in the next month.
b. Promotion: Connie was absent so Denise talked about the
promotions for National Preservation Month including the scavenger hunt
and “This Place Matters” photo/essay contest in the Sun. It will go on

until May 30. Completed scavenger hunts are turned into the Visitors
Center.
c. Organization: Pete said this committee will meet next week. They
are trying to pull together priorities, identify what the goals are of
each of the organizations that are in place.
d. Economic Restructuring: Trevor was absent so Chris reported the
primary focus is business retention and hiring a downtown retail
consultant. They want to do training and webinars to sustain
businesses downtown. They will be focusing on next steps in the
next month. First tier, businesses on the square. Second tier, help
property owners plan for strong business recruitment and then
retention.
6. The meeting adjourned at 8:34 a.m. The next meeting will be June 3rd board
meeting.
