MINUTES 8:30 A.M. — FRIDAY, MARCH 23, 2012 WILLIAMSON COUNTY COURTHOUSE 2ND FLOOR NORTH CONFERENCE ROOM, GEORGETOWN, TEXAS Board Members Present: Denise Jimenez, Julie Laderach, Linda McCalla, Amanda Parr, Marcy Urban Karin Truxillo David Kellerman Board Member Absent: Guest Present: City Staff Present: Shelly Hargrove, Main Street Manager, Robbie Wyler, Historic District Planner and Eric Lashley, Library Director 1. The meeting was called to order at 8:31 a.m. by Board Chair Denise Jimenez. 2. Since there was no quorum at the February 10 board meeting, there were no board minutes to approve. Denise moved to approve the February 16t special -called board meeting minutes, Linda seconded. All board members present voted to approve (4-0) with Marcy Urban stepping out of the meeting room. 3. Denise skipped item #3 to #4 since Eric Lashley was not present. Robbie gave an update for HARC on signage for Burger University in the old Lockett Bldg. They will also be coming back to HARC to light up the building, and the Visitor Info Center signage is now up at 103 W. 7th St. Ninety-one people are currently registered for the CAMP training scheduled in Georgetown for next week. Hat Creek Burger Co. went to HARC to discuss their preliminary design plans, and they go to P&Z on April 3 and then to city council on April 24 for approval of their proposed drive-thru lane. 4. Eric Lashley presented on the proposed pilot arts center program for the first floor of the historic fire house building at 816 S. Main St. He will present at a city council workshop next Tuesday to get direction on whether he should move forward with the concept. Phase 1 is to renovate the interior and take it back down to the bare limestone walls and wooden ceiling joists, phase 2 will be to expand the outside sidewalks and then phase 3 would be to redesign the corner courtyard. 5. Staff Report: Mark reported that the city building that Grape Creek Vineyards will be taking over has been delayed due to discovering asbestos and damaged flooring so maintenance will have to be done before they will take it over. ThunderCloud Subs was awarded the bid to purchase the fire station bays and hopefully a second concept like Amy's Ice Cream will go in with them. Shelly reminded the board about Main Street board training after the April board meeting and then the annual board retreat to update the action plan on May 10 meeting. 6. Committee Reports: d. Economic Restructuring: Marcy mentioned we are asking downtown McKinney contacts to come for a panel discussion at the next Breakfast Bites that is tentatively scheduled for April 19. Southwestern University is having a Pirate Bike Awareness day next Wednesday and a new business coming will be Wilco Pizza Authority in the old Nonna's location. e. Design: Amanda mentioned the committee is recommending we do a holiday lighting window decorating contest this year with a possible announcement of winners at Lighting of the Square, also about choosing the old fire house as the subject for the 2012 collectible ornament and the group is still wanting to see if Eric Visser would support an attached mural on the south side of his Main Street building. > Joint Arts & Culture: Linda talked about meeting on the "Light Up the Square" holiday marketing campaign and how council has already approved up to $30,000 in matching funds for this year's lighting and how we are focusing on the oak trees one block off each direction of the square. We will go out for an RFP to select the contractor. c. Promotion: Denise reported that the Swirl raised $12,185 and sold out tickets the Tuesday before the event. d. Organization: no report 7. Amanda recommended we add an agenda item to discuss there being board liaisons with each of the downtown blocks to report on them on a monthly basis.
