MINUTES 8:30 A.M. — FRIDAY, JUNE 8, 2012 WILLIAMSON COUNTY COURTHOUSE 2ND FLOOR NORTH CONFERENCE BOOM, GEORGETOWN, TEXAS Board Members Present: Board Members Absent: City Staff Present: Denise Jimenez, Julie Laderach, Amanda Parr, Marcy Urban, David Kellerman Linda McCalla Shelly Hargrove, Main Street Manager and Robbie Wyler, Historic District Planner 1. The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m. by Board Chair Denise Jimenez. 2. David moved to approve the May 10th board meeting minutes, Denise seconded. All board members present voted to approve (5-0). 3. Shelly discussed an email request from Erin Rost for a facade grant extension for construction of a tie -rod canopy for the Dimmitt Building, 717 S. Main Street, till October 2012 due to delay in exterior work due to paint removal remediation. Denise made a motion to extend the facade grant deadline till October 31, 2012, Amanda seconded. All board members present voted to approve (5-0). 4. Robbie gave a HARC update of moving forward on updating the Downtown Design Guidelines which can be viewed at www.historic.georgetown.org . Also working on finalizing historic resources survey. Hat Creek Burger's special -use permit goes back to HARC possibly at their June 28 meeting, and then goes back to a later city council meeting. Nore Winter from Boulder, CO is expected to visit in July. ThunderCloud Subs location, the fire station bays building at 814 S. Main St. is being finalized for sale. A new art project on downtown utility boxes is being discussed as well. 5. Staff Report: Shelly mentioned that the agenda item to add "Home of Southwestern University" to the city's east monument sign is going to city council for approval at their June 12 meeting along with approval of Jim Wilson as a new board member. City is also working with a blacksmith artist to submit a proposal for artistic bollards for our Austin Ave. sidewalk expansion project on the west side of the square. 6. Promotion: committee met on Monday to update the action plan, discussed starting Swirl fundraising in fall, discussion about Main Street 30th Anniv. Dinner in November on courthouse lawn with the maximum possibility of 206 tickets b. Design: met Monday, firehouse with old fire truck will be this year's ornament; holiday window decorating contest discussed; also possible mural on Eric Visser's property so working on a proposal, need to consider lighting (MARC will need to approve design) • Joint Arts & Culture: Marcy reported that she has visited some Local art galleries, an Arts Affiance steering committee meeting was held discussing 12 venues to display art in town, Gallery. Georgetown tour art entry info listed on arts website, www.arts.georgetown.org, tour to take place on November 3. c. Economic Restructuring: Marcy reported that we cancelled the April quarterly Breakfast Bites since McKinney had to back out. Fredericksburg Chamber CEO Penny Reeh will be the next speaker in early August, and committee needs to pick date for Fredericksburg trip. 50/50 Restaurant & Wine Bar closed and Masonic Lodge building is in foreclosure d. Organization: Amanda brought up a recommendation from the McKinney trip on assigning board block liaisons to better communicate with downtown merchants, so the following assignments were made based on the Town Square Directory map, from upper left corner going clockwise around courthouse: Shelly takes Bank of America block and courthouse, Denise takes next block where Cianfrani's is located, Linda takes her block with Galaxy Bakery is located, Julie takes block where The Escape is, David takes block with Grace Heritage Church, Amanda takes block where Roots Bistro is located, Jim takes block with Wildfire and Marcy takes her block. Shelly also mentioned the reorganization that is going on with the City so Main Street is now under Assistant City Manager Laurie Brewer along with Historic District Planner Robbie Wyler, CVB, Library and Parks & Recreation.
