MINUTES 8:30 A.M. – FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2012 WILLIAMSON COUNTY COURTHOUSE 2ND FLOOR NORTH CONFERENCE ROOM, GEORGETOWN, TEXAS Board Members Present: Denise Jimenez, Linda McCalla, Amanda Parr, Marcy Urban, David Kellerman, Jim Wilson Board Members Absent: Julie Laderach Guests Present: Shuler Page, Gumbos; Chris Damon, old Masonic Lodge owner City Staff Present: Shelly Hargrove, Main Street Manager; Laurie Brewer, Assistant City Manager; Robbie Wyler, Historic District Planner 1. The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m. by Board Chair Denise Jimenez. 2. Amanda moved to approve the August 10th board meeting minutes, Jim seconded. All board members present voted to approve (6-0). 3. Shuler Page with Gumbo’s gave an overview of the signage he is requesting a sign grant for on the old Masonic Lodge building at 701 S. Main Street including window signage, hanging signs and a blade sign. They go to HARC on September 27 for approval. Linda moved to award a $500 sign grant to the Pages, contingent approval by HARC, David seconded. All board members present voted to approve (6-0). 4. Linda discussed the holiday lighting fundraising efforts and made a motion for each Main Street Advisory Board member to contribute approximately $72 so the Main Street Advisory Board could be listed as a $500 sponsor, Amanda seconded. All board members present voted to approve (6-0). 5. Shelly and Linda discussed the bid process of receiving four bids for the downtown holiday lighting this year, and Preferred Landscape and Lighting out of San Antonio is being recommended. There was also a discussion of whether the board thought they could raise the remaining balance to match city council’s $30,000. Linda moved to award Preferred Landscape & Lighting the bid at L:\Division\ms\ed\MAIN STREET\ORGANIZATION\Advisory Board\Meetings\12-9-14 M.doc $60,000 and Jim seconded. Five board members present voted to approve, with Marcy opposed. (5-1). 6. Robbie gave his last update on HARC since he has accepted a position in Boulder, Colorado. Valerie Kreger and Liz Cook will take Robbie’s spot while his position is open. Gumbo’s takes their sign application to HARC on September 27 along with Union on 8th St. for the new event venue. The Georgetown Art Center goes to the October 25 HARC meeting. He had a pre-application meeting with Square Books. 7. Committee Reports: a. Economic Restructuring: Marcy reminded of September 19 Breakfast Bites with Penny Reeh, only a few people RSVP’d so members need to send out email blast to their contacts. Still working on filling the holes in the downtown contact list. b. Promotion: Denise mentioned that Trisha Tallman will be the Swirl event chair, Lauryl is going to contract again for sponsorship, and we are raising the number of total attendance to 450, so selling 400 tickets. We are asking the Chamber of Commerce President Mel Pendland to be our honorary event chair. Taking photos for Toast of the Town award at The Escape at 10 a.m. on Tues, Sept. 19. c. Design: Amanda and David gave an update on the holiday ornament and it will be sold at First Friday in November. Need signage for ornament sales. Will have design workshop on October 18.  Joint Arts & Culture: There were approximately six entries of the Arts & Culture Board’s Utility Box Art Project, art was selected that will be a quilt and the other will look like the box doesn’t exist. Gallery Georgetown is Saturday, November 3 from 5-9 p.m. Arts Alliance is about to start strategic planning. d. Organization: no meeting or report 8.
