A. Chair Charles Aguillon called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. He spoke generally about
the accomplishments of the Board since the last Summit meeting in October 2008, pomting
out the availability on the City website of a community arts and entertainment calendar, an
asset that many people had said last year that they wanted. He also reviewed the Board's
budget and announced the availability of approximately $63,000 for grants to local arts
organizations. Each person attending the Summit received a copy of the Sponsorship
Guidelines and the Application. Charles then opened the floor to discussion and. questions.
Larry McCormick said that he hoped grants would only be given to organizations that
could provide objective measures of success with their programs and that follow-up
reports should be required.
One of the representatives of the Festival of the Arts suggested that the Board should
consider putting a. kiosk on the Square where organizations could place posters advertising
their events.
Charles spoke about the Arts and Culture Tent that some organizations had taken
advantage of at Art in the Square. He asked which organizations would be interested in
having a table m the tent at future events on the Square. The Festival of the Arts, FOGSS,
Hill Country Book Festival, and the Palace all indicated they would like to participate.
Judy Ommen, who had worked in the Children's Art Tent at Art in the Square, said she
hoped that the children's activity area would be more visible at future events In spite of
being somewhat hidden, though, it had been very busy.
There being no other comments or questions, the meeting adjourned at 6:50.
Respectfully submitted,
