Melanie Dunham, Jane Paden Others Present: Jane Estes and Judy Ommen, representing Art Works; Judy Ommen also represented the Sun City Visual Arts Club; Ellsworth Peterson and Bob Horick representing the Festival of the Arts; Cindy Thompson representing Friends of the Georgetown Symphony Society (FOBSS), Sue Fuller representing the Georgetown Heritage Society; Phyllis Moses and Artie Stockton representing the Hill Country Book Festival; Tiffany McLendon representing Main Street; Doug Smith and Larry McCormick representing the Palace Theater; Sam Holland representing the San Gabriel Writers League; Paul Gaffney representing the Sarofim School of Fine Arts at Southwestern University Dave Roberts representing the Williamson County Chorus, Lisa Worley representing the Williamson Museum Staff Present: Judy Fabry, Library Administrative Assistant A. Chair Charles Aguillon called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. He spoke generally about the accomplishments of the Board since the last Summit meeting in October 2008, pomting out the availability on the City website of a community arts and entertainment calendar, an asset that many people had said last year that they wanted. He also reviewed the Board's budget and announced the availability of approximately $63,000 for grants to local arts organizations. Each person attending the Summit received a copy of the Sponsorship Guidelines and the Application. Charles then opened the floor to discussion and. questions. Larry McCormick said that he hoped grants would only be given to organizations that could provide objective measures of success with their programs and that follow-up reports should be required. One of the representatives of the Festival of the Arts suggested that the Board should consider putting a. kiosk on the Square where organizations could place posters advertising their events. Charles spoke about the Arts and Culture Tent that some organizations had taken advantage of at Art in the Square. He asked which organizations would be interested in having a table m the tent at future events on the Square. The Festival of the Arts, FOGSS, Hill Country Book Festival, and the Palace all indicated they would like to participate. Judy Ommen, who had worked in the Children's Art Tent at Art in the Square, said she hoped that the children's activity area would be more visible at future events In spite of being somewhat hidden, though, it had been very busy.
