HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 032613-J - Accept Grant TxDot CIPRESOLUTION NO. 0 3 2& 13 'r A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, (City) Documenting the City's Support and Acceptance of a Grant from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to Fund Improvements to the Parallel Taxiways, Medium Intensity Runway Lights and Related Safety and Compliance Improvements at the Georgetown Municipal Airport. WHEREAS, the City intends to make certainimprovements to the Georgetown Municipal Airport required to improve safety and bring the Airport into compliance with operating requirements of TxDOT) and the Federal Aviation Administration; and WHEREAS, the general description of the first year of the three year project is described as: "Engineering/design for parallel taxiway and lighting improvements;" and WHEREAS, the City intends to request financial assistance from TxDOT for these improvements; and WHEREAS, the City will be responsible for 1.0% of the total project costs; total project costs are currently estimated at $8,055,000 for the three year project, and the City's 10% share is currently estimated to be $805,500.00; and WHEREAS, Year one of the project is estimated to cost $715,000, and the City's 10% share is currently estimated to be $71 500; and WHEREAS, the City names TxDOT as its agent for the purposes of applying for, receiving and disbursing all funds for these improvements and for the administration of contracts necessary for the implementation of these improvements; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the Ci Texas: Georgetown, SECTION 1 The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements specific sections of the Georgetown Municipal Airport Functional Plan Element, and further finds that the adoption of this resolution is not inconsistent or in conflict with the City of Georgetown 2030 Comprehensive Plan. Resolution Number 3 (0( 3 "`T TxDOT Airport CIP 2013 March 26, 2013 Page 1 of 2 SECTION 2. 1'he City Council of the City of Georgetown finds it to be in the best interest of the citizens of Georgetown to approve the Project with TxDOT for parallel taxiways, medium intensity runway lights and related safety and compliance improvements at the Georgetown Municipal Airport. SECTION 3. I'he Mayor is hereby directed to execute and the City Secretary to attest thereto on behalf of the City, at the appropriate time, and with the appropriate authorizations of this governing body, all contracts and agreements with the State of Texas, represented by TxDOT, and such other parties as shall be necessary and appropriate for the implementation and completion of the improvements to the Georgetown Municipal Airport. SECTION 4. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption. Attest: Resolved, this 26th day of March, 2013.
