HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 091112-R - Ratify Tax RateRESOLUTION NO. now j 1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, RATIFYING THAT THE ADOPTION OF THE 2012/13 ANNUAL BUDGET WILL REQUIRE RAISING MORE REVENUE FROM PROPERTY TAXES THAN IN THE PREVIOUS YEAR WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Texas has amended Section 102.007 of the Local Government Code: and WHEREAS, a separate vote of the City Council is required to ratify that the adoption of the 2012/13 Annual Budget will require raising more revenue from property taxes than the previous year; and WHEREAS, this resolution represents such action; N OW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF. THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN TEXAS, THAT: S ECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this resolution complies with the Vision Statement of the City of Georgetown 2030 Comprehensive Plan. S ECTION 2. The 2012 notification statement that states "This Budget will raise more total property taxes than last year's budget by $702 325 or 5.87%, and of that amount $369,888 is tax revenue to be raised from new property added, to the tax roll this year" has been made. S ECTION 3. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign this resolution and the City Secretary to attest. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
