Discussion of whether the Board should become involved in the amphitheater bond
project. — Randy Morrow visited the Board and brought conceptual drawings of the
amphitheater project passed during the November 2008 bond elections. Randy
emphasized that the drawings were conceptual and would most likely change when the
City hired an architect to do the construction plans. He stated that the location of the
original design was the old football stadium, but the location could change as long as it
was located in San Gabriel Park. He also stated that the proposed amphitheater is being
designed as a multi -use facility that would accommodate concerts as well as a fanners
market. He said he would be glad to involve the Arts and Culture Board when the City
was ready to move forward with the plans. The City will not issue any bonds for this
project until the economy improves.
Randy also showed drawings of the Garey Park project. Randy mentioned that there
were plans for a 3,000 seat amphitheater. More parking would be available at Garey Park
than San. Gabriel Park Randy states that for a concert venue, Garey Park may be a better
choice.
