the City Council of
the City
of Georgetown, Texas ordered an election to
be held on Saturday,
May 1, 1993 for the
purpose
of electing the following officials for this City:
Four (4) members of Council, District Nos. 1, 3, 4, and 5; and
WHEREAS, the City
Council
has investigated all
matters pertaining to said election,
including the ordering, giving
notice,
holding and making
returns of said election; and
WHEREAS, the
election officers
who
held
said election
have duly made the returns of
the results thereof, and
said returns have
been
duly
delivered to
said City Council; and
WHEREAS, it appears from said returns, duly and legally made, that each of the
candidates received the following votes:

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown has determined that this
Ordinance must be passed on an emergency reading to allow the Councilmembers to take office
in a timely manner,

NOW, ' •' BE IT ORDAINED ! BY THE CITY COUNCILOF OF
GEORGETOWN
SECTION I. The City Council officially finds and determines that said election was duly called;
that proper notice of said election was given in accordance with law; that said election was held
in accordance with law; and that returns of the results of said election have been made and
delivered, and that the City Council has canvassed said returns, all in accordance with the law
and the Ordinance calling said election.
SECTION II. The City Council officially finds and determines that Lupe Carr anco was elected
as Councilmember for District 1; Jane Voltz was elected as Councilmember for District No. 3;
Mike McMaster was elected as Councilmember for District No. 4; and Dick Vincent was elected
as Councilmember for District 5. Furthermore, said parties are hereby declared duly elected to
said respective offices, subject to the taking of their oaths of office as provided for by the laws
of the State of Texas and the Charter of the City of Georgetown, Texas.
SECTION III. This Ordinance establishes an emergency due to the need for these
Councilmembers to take office in a timely fashion and in accordance with the provisions of the
Election Code of the State of Texas and the Charter of the City of Georgetown and therefore
shall take effect immediately upon passage by a favorable vote of not less than a majority plus
one of the Councilmembers qualified in serving.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED on emergency reading on this 3rd day of May, 1993.
