ORDINANCE
WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation recently conducted a traffic
engineering study on R.M. 2338;
WHEREAS, the traffic and engineering study indicated that certain speed limits should
be lowered on R.M. 2338;
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, hereby finds that a
necessity exists for modification of existing speed limits in the area along certain portions of RM
2338 of said City as hereinafter described;

SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are
hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and
expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this
ordinance implements Transportation Policy 1 of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, which
states: "The City will encourage a transportation system that provides for the safe and efficient
movement of traffic, promotes the economic interests of the community, and adequately serves
the personal needs of individuals", and further finds that the enactment of this ordinance is not
inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of
the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan,
SECTION 2. Section 10.12.080 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Georgetown,
Texas is hereby amended to read as follows:
"10.1 MO I oMe 2338.
It is determined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation that the prima
facie maximum speed limit on those portions of R.M. Highway 2338 routed in the City is as
stated in this section, which prima facie maximum speed limit is effective at all times, and signs
will be erected giving notice of the prima facie maximum speed limit so declared:
A. For eastbound traffic:
1. Beginning at the west City Limits of Georgetown at milepoint 14.010 to milepoint
14.337, a distance of 0.327 miles, a prima facie maximum speed limit of 40 miles per hour,
2. From milepoint 14.337 to milepoint 15.455 (Business 35), a distance of 1.118 miles,

a prima facie maximum speed limit of 35 miles per hour,
3. School Speed Zone. Beginning at mile point 15.055 to milepoint 15.174, a distance
of 0.199 miles, a prima facie maximum speed limit of 20 miles per hour when flashing;
B. For westbound traffic:
1. Beginning at milepoint 15.455 (Business 35) to milepoint 14.337, a distance of 1.118
miles, a prima facie maximum speed limit of 35 miles per hour,
2. From milepoint 14.337 to the west City Limits of Georgetown at milepoint 14.010, a
distance of. 0.327 miles, a prima facie maximum speed limit of 40 miles per hour,
3. School Speed Zone. Beginning at milepoint 15.174 to milepoint 15.055, a distance of
0.199 miles, a prima facie maximum speed limit of 20 miles per hour when flashing."
SECTION
3. All ordinances and resolutions,
or parts of ordinances and
resolutions, in
conflict with this
Ordinance are hereby repealed, and
are no longer of any force
and effect.
SECTION 4. If any provision of this ordinance or application of it to any person or
circumstance, is held to be invalid, the remainder of the ordinance which can be given effect
without the invalid provision or application shall applied as valid and is hereby declared to be
severable from the invalid portion.
SECTION 5. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign this ordinance and the City
Secretary to attest. This ordinance shall become effective and be in full force and effect in (10)
ten days on and after publication in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the City of
Georgetown.
