HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 86-35 - Electrical Permit FeesAN ORDINANCE AMENDING PART 11, CHAPTER 6, ARTICLE 11, DIVISION IV, SECTION 6-39.44 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF GEORGETOWN BY CHANGING THE PERMIT FEES FOR THE ISSUANCE OF ELECTRICAL WORK PERMITS WHEREAS, The City of Georgetown did enact an Ordinance No. 79-9 that established administrative and regulatory procedure and require- ments for the issuance of electrical work permits, and WHEREAS, said ordinance was subsequently incorporated in the City Code Article 11, and Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY the City Council of the City of Georgetown that Section 6-39.44 of the City Code be amended as follows: The following fees shall be paid to the city for the issuance of electrical work permits: (a) Installation Receptacles $ of services: •50 (2) (1) Up to 100 amperes $ 4.00 Light fixtures (2) 101 to 200 amperes 6.00 .60 (3) 201 to 400 amperes 10.00 10 hp but (4) Over 400 amperes 20.00 (c) Installation (b) Installation work: of outlets in dwelling units: 7.00 Copper Aluminum (1) Receptacles $ .25 $ •50 (2) Switches .25 .50 (3) Light fixtures .25 •50 (4) Fixed appliance .60 1.00 (5) Resistant duct heater (4) 10 hp but per 5 kw •90 5.00 (c) Installation of outlets in commercial work: less than Copper (1) Receptacles $ •45 (2) Switches •45 (3) Light fixtures •45 (4) Fixed appliances 60 (5) Resistant duct heater per 5 kw (d) Motors: .90 F Aluminum (1) 1/2 hp but less than 2 hp 1.50 (2) 2 hp but less than 5 hp 2.75 (3) 5 hp but less than 10 hp 3.50 (4) 10 hp but less than 20 hp 5.00 (5) 20 hp but less than 50 hp 7.00 (6) 50 hp and over 8.50 (e) Equipment: (1) Motion picture machine, each (2) X-ray machine, each (3) Welding machine, each (4) Elevators, each 10.00 7.00 3.50 8.50 .85 .85 .85 1.20 -2- (f) Signs: (1) Minimum fee 5.00 (2) More than 2 transformers a. Per ballast 1.00 (g) Reinspection fee: This fee is charged when work is rejected on the first inspection and each subsequent inspection 15.00 (h) Construction power service 4.50 (i) Vaporproof light on each pole, each 2.00 (j) Temporary installations: Carnivals or similar temporary installations for amusement, show, display or similar uses shall be charged for at the rate of $25.00 for the installation of 10 kva or less, and all additional kva shall be charged for at the rate of $1.00 per kva. For the purpose of fees for this classification one horsepower of motor load shall be considered as one kva. (k) Transformers, light and/or power or welding: (1) Up to and including 7f kva, each 2.00 (2) Over 71 and including 25 kva, each 3.50 (3) Over 25 and including 50 kva, each 5.00 (4) Over 50 kva, each 15.00 (1) New locations: Inspection fee for houses or buildings moved on lot, each 10.00 (m) Unprescribed installations: For the inspection of installations and other electrical work for which no fee is prescribed or otherwise provided, the city electrical inspector shall assess a fee for the permit to be determined by the amount of time necessary for a proper inspection at the rate of $15.00 per hour or fraction thereof. (n) Commercial check 5.00 (o) Penalty: In case any work, for which a permit is required by this chapter, is started prior to obtaining said permit, the fee above specified shall be doubled. The payment of such doubled fee shall not relieve any person from fully complying with the requirements of this chapter in the execution of work nor from other penalties prescribed herein.
