Arts and Culture Board
Of Georgetown, Texas
Tuesday, September 21, 2010
MEMBERS IN ATTENDENCE: Charles Aguillon, Philip Baker, Steve Proesel,
Mandy Solin, and Karen Lange.
ABSENT: Kaki Bassi and Dar Richardson
STAFF IN ATTENDENCE Eric Lashley, Library Director
OTHERS IN ATTENDENCE: None
MINUTES:
A. The meeting was called to order by Chair Charles Aguillon at 5:40 PM.
B Eric announced the first joint subcommittee meeting of the CVB, Main Street,
and Arts and Culture Boards would be held October 6, 2010 at 8:00 a.m.
Philip will be unable to attend, but Steve will attend in Philip s place.
C. There were no citizens wishing to address the Board.
D. Mandy moved to accept the minutes of the August 2010 meeting as
distributed and Steve seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
E CONSIDERATION OF AND POSSIBLE ACTION ON THE FOLLOWING.
1. Southwestern University 3M grant- Eric Lashley Eric reported the Board
would receive approximately $3,500 to purchase a sculpture for the park.
2. Art Month — Eric Lashley, Charles Aguillon
a. Proclamation by Mayor Garver — Eric noted the proclamation will be done
at the Council meeting on October 12 at 6:00 p.m.
b. Booth at Art in the Square — Charles said he had met with Lynette
Wallace and there will be a booth available for nonprofits to promote their
events. Eric said he would notify nonprofits the availability of the booth.
Charles also noted the Williamson Museum will be hosting a reception
Saturday, October 16 after 7 00 p.m.
c. Art Hop Reception — Eric announced there will be an Art Hop reception
at the Library on October 1, 2010 from 5 00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
3. Additional sculptures in San Gabriel Park — Dar Richardson Eric read a
report from Dar, who is visiting an old girlfriend at his high school reunion.
Dar has been working with the Parks Department to have an additional 18
sculptures installed Enc said Judy and Kaki have been working on a map
of locations with the City's GIS department and hope to have a map
available for the Art in the Square event.
4. Application for Cultural District Designation — Charles Aquilion. Charles
reported nothing new, but he would bring this up at the joint advisory board
subcommittee meeting in October.
Charles adjourned the meeting at 6:15 p.m.

Georgetown Sculpture Tour
Currently, there are about 17 sculptures located at the San
Gabriel Park and Georgetown Library.
Going Forward
Extend the period of time for the sculptures currently at the park
and library
Contact artist that have sculptures showina at the Wild Flower
Center, Crossings and Marble Falls and invite selected artist to
show at the San Gabriel Dail n L-1r,u 11uIu, .
Estimate 10 to 12 sculptures to be installed the end of Sept
and first of October 20li. Duration is orie vear.

• Irving Arts Center - "The Irving Arts Center Galleries are for the exhibition, promotion
and exposure of the visual arts to the citizens of Irving and surrounding communities.
Exhibits in the Irving Arts Center Galleries shall encourage creativity, participation,
inspiration and an increased awareness of the visual arts in visitors. Each year exhibits in
the areas of painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, graphics, illustration, fiber
arts and other creative or visual arts will be presented to the public. In addition, special
collections, touring shows, scientific and educational exhibitions and demonstrations will
be promoted for the education and participation of the public."
McKinney Performing Arts Center — "The McKinney Performing Arts Center at the
Historic Collin County Courthouse located in Downtown McKinney Commercial
Historic District is dedicated to providing the community a unique and professional
venue in which cultural, artistic and educational opportunities may be nurtured in a
supportive environment."
Creative Arts Center of Dallas — "Our Mission: To provide a nurturing environment for
people to discover, develop and express their artistic visions.
Our Vision: CAC, a place where community arises as we transform the ordinary into the
extraordinary through creative experiences."
