FINAL DRAFT OF PUBLIC MEETING MINUTES OF THE
BUILDING STANDARDS COMMISSION
CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS
May 23, 2002
Commissioners present: Lloyd Potts- Vice Chair, Cheryl Nunn, Richard Lenning, Neil Daly,
Edward Martin
Staff present: Building Official - Dave Hall, Secretary - Laura Anderson
Guest Speakers: Tom Leggitt - Fire Marshall Julie Canady Code Enforcement
Regular Session
1. Consideration of approval of minutes for the regular Commission meeting held on
April 25, 2002. Neil Daly motion to approve the minutes.
Richard Lenning seconded , PASSED 5-0
Executive Session
In compliance with the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Government Code, Vernon’s Texas
Code, Annotated, the item below will be discussed in closed session:
2. Section 551.071 consultation with attorney
3. Action from Executive Session. No action taken
4. Presentation and discussion on Georgetown Code Enforcement activities from Fire
Services. Julie Canady discusses the dangerous structures at 1808 Eubank, 402 W
University, 2703 Parker, 210 W Central. She states that Eubank was taken care of in
February. Julie states that there should be evidence of improvements being made
at 210 W. Central within 30 days.
5. Presentation, public review and possible action on recommending to the City of
Council of Georgetown, for the adoption of the 2000 International Building, Fire,
Plumbing, Mechanical, and fuel Gas Codes. Dave discusses that he and Tom have
discussed the code (Fire) in tremendous length. Dave provides the commissioners
with a copy of the code. Any where in the wording, the statement " The Code Official"
will be referred to as the Fire Marshall.

Dave reminds the commissioners to invite any contractor, architect or any interested
party to attend the meetings.
6. Suggested items for the next regularly scheduled meeting.
Continue on with the study of the codes.
