HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_BSC_11.21.2002FINAL DRAFT OF PUBLIC MEETIG MINUTES OF THE BUILDING STANDARDS COMMISSION City of Georgetown November 21, 2002 Notice is hereby given that the City of Georgetown Building Standards Commission will hold its regular meeting at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, the 21st of November 2002, in the large Conference room at Development Services located at 904 S. Main St., Georgetown, Texas to consider the following: ATTENDANCE: COMMISSIONERS: Jim Schiller, Cheryl Nunn, Richard Lenning, Lloyd Potts Neil Daly Alternates: Ed Martin Building Official – Dave Hall, Secretary- Laura Anderson Meeting called to order at 4:01p.m. Regular Session 1. Consideration of approval of the minutes from the regular Commission meeting held on September 19, 2002. Potts moves to approve, Daly motion to second Passed 5-0 Executive Session (Commission reserves the right to convene into Executive Session at any time during the meeting regarding any agenda item. In compliance with the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551 Government Code, Vernon’s Texas Code, Annotated, the item below will be discussed in closed session.) 2. Section 551.071 consultation with attorney. Regular Session 3. Action from Executive Session. none 4. Presentation, public review and possible action on recommending to the City Council of Georgetown, for the adoption of the 2000 International Building, Fire, Plumbing, Mechanical and Fuel Gas Codes. Dave Hall explains to the Commissioners the request of information that he He had requested for the ISO auditor. Dave explains who he is and what they do. Previously visiting in 1997 and scoring the City of Georgetown at a 6. Dave explains that this is used to set The Insurance Rate for the area. Due to not having the ICC adopted we will most likely score a 7. When adopted the ISO auditor will lower our score. Dave handed out the sample form of the temporary fire lane. He decided to take the lead and Head with this project. This will be going into GUS'S document as a construction document which will tie into the UDC. Fire Marshall ad Chief have okay'ed Dave's draft. Where, when, how far is going to be on an individual basis, approved by the Fire Marshall. Daly request Dave to tie in the definition to the rest of the document by removing the word "any" and adding the word "weight". Jim request some definition of distance. 150' from the middle of the building? Chapters 11,12,13 are discussed, not any changes. Schiller asks of there are any concerns per the other codes except for plumbing. Dave responds, the plumbing code and fees are going to have a lot of changes. Schiller also states we need to polish up the Fire issues. 5. Suggested items for next regular scheduled meeting agenda.
