Discussion and possible action on the review and update to the City of Georgetown Electrical Ordinance to the 2002 National Electrical Code and Electrical Licensing requirements in order to be presented to the City of Georgetown City Council for proposed adoption. Dave Hall discusses putting article newspaper starting in May to advertise Hearings on revisions of Electrical Ordinance and regarding our Electrical License and requirements along with their new state license. He stated that questions are being asked about the State License overriding the existing City License and local requirements also, Permits and Inspections technical provisions. We adopted the 99 NEC and the 2002 has been out and one can now even order the 2005 in advance but not released as of yet. He stated that we need to discuss going to the 2002. He is not sure what date the 2005 will be released to the public. Lenning would like to take a look at the 2005 Electrical Code before making any decisions. He wants to look and compare changes from 99 to 2002 and 2002 to 2005 and see if its cost prohibited for construction. Commissioner Bland states that the Electrical codes usually run two years behind. His recommendation is to view a code for several years before moving to the current and new code. He states it’s a complicating document. Dave Hall will collect documents to help point out changes. We are still not sure what we will do with the Electrical Licenses but wants to at least keep the Electricians registered with us to continue to know who is working on jobs within Georgetown. Inspectors are being dedicated to checking for Electrical Licenses on job sites weekly. We might at least charge an administration fee for each license registered. We plan to advertise to pull in the public for discussion and awareness. No action was taken on this item. This item was for discussion purposes only. 7. Suggested items for the next regular meeting agenda. Meeting adjourned at 5:00 Motioned by Lenning and seconded by Bland.
