Georgetown, Texas 78626 Commissioners Present: Richard Lenning, Chair, Ed Baxter, Kristopher Kopak, Ed Martin, Sam Giancarlo, Stanley Bland Commissioners absent: Billy Strickland Staff Present: Dave Hall, Patricia Rinehart, Mark Moore, Larry Herrin A regular meeting of the Building Standards Commission, for consideration and possible action on the following: Meeting called to order at 4:00 pm Regular Session 1. Review of the minutes from the meeting on September 16, 2004. Motion by Commissioner Lenning to approve the minutes from the September 16, 2004 Meeting. Second by Commissioner Martin. Motion Approved 5-0. Executive Session (Commission reserves the right to convene into Executive Session at any time during the meeting regarding any agenda item. In compliance with the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551 Government Code, Vernon’s Texas Code, Annotated, the item below will be discussed in closed session.) 2. Section 551.071 consultation with attorney. None Regular Session 3. Action from Executive Session. None 4. Discussion and possible action for the review and update to the City of Georgetown Electrical Ordinance from the 1999 National Electrical Code to the 2002 National Electrical Code and Electrical Licensing requirements in order to be presented to the City of Georgetown City Council for consideration and future adoption. Dave handed out the revised ordinance to each member showing proposed changes to the Electrical Ordinances. He stated that he was going to present it to Council Workshop on November 8, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. He asks for any input from members at that time to make all proper changes. Dave discussed his recommended registration fees and he will be working to finalize those fees pertaining to all categories. Ed Baxter brought up concern regarding the two-year renewal being the same date for each Electrician registered no matter when the registration occurred. For administration purposes Dave thought the same expiration date would save staff time. Stanley Bland discussed service mast revisions on section 15.16.470. Building Inspectors Mark Moore and Larry Herrin explained revisions on section 15.16.480. Dave discussed a section in the 2002 NEC Code Book. Section will not apply regarding staff requirements and Electrical Board also known as Building Standards Commission. Motion by Ed Martin and seconded by Sam Giancarlo to approve the update from the 99 National Electrical Code to the 2002 National Electrical Code and the Electrical Licensing requirements to be presented to Council. 5. Suggested items for next regularly scheduled meeting agenda. Meeting adjourned at 5:50. Motion by Lenning.
